January 14, 2010

http://livingstonlive.org/LCAC/

In an effort to better serve the citizenry of Livingston County, the Livingston County Animal Control Department has implemented a new website with improved functionality. As a phase of their new software installation, the website makes adoptables and strays visible on the site, as they are entered into the system. In most cases, animal information will be available shortly after intake, if not at intake. Other enhancements include:
  • Breed Requests Module (Animal Matching)
    • Site users can record their breed request
    • Page searches current shelter animals, displaying close matches to web user
    • Internally, shelter staff can run matching of breed requests to current adoptable shelter animals (based on breed, size and sex). Staff can then contact potential adopter.
  • Lost and Found Module (entries active for 60 days)
    • Web Page that allows/displays
      • Animal Description
      • Where lost/found
      • Owner Contact Information
      • Animal’s Picture
    • Entered Lost and Found records checking
      • Shelter staff can run matching of Lost and Found List Entries to current shelter animals (based on breed, sex and description)
These new features facilitate animal placements, whether the return of pets to their owners or a match of a potential adopter to their desired pet.
